A structure in Shenzhen urban village, transformed from an important and auspicious animal figure in Southern China learnt from the local context. I trying to revoke the common identity of the villagers by operating the symbolic local materials in and out of the carp archway. The villagers would be no longer speculators and volunteer to add some private trace on it. Finally, its presence itself could empower the long-ignored tough people there, justifying their existence and desire.
